Snacks and Songs

In the hopes I’d spill my guts every now and again to people who likely don’t care all that much, I created a “blog” tab that has been dormant since creating my website. I was eagerly waiting for the moment when I could elegantly transform some deep, introspective thoughts into pixels. Well, here we are folks. I was out riding my bike on a sunset hot lap and I had a friggin brain blast. There are few things that define me more effectively than what I eat and what I listen to. So, this is a current compilation of me in the form of calories and sound waves. I don’t eat many actual meals. Maybe one a day and the rest is snacks. It’s been like this for over four years now. Basically since I moved to Colorado. I’m outside a lot and like to carry as little weight as possible, which means I’ve become closely acquainted with pocket sized, calorie dense, salty, sweet goodies. I’ll start with bars and then go to finger food type stuff. These are my current go-to’s.

Bars

  1. RXBAR Mixed Berry (during outdoors-ing)

  2. thinkThin Brownie Crunch (after outdoors-ing)

  3. thinkThin Protein & Superfruit Coconut Almond (during or after outdoors-ing)

  4. Almost any flavor of Clif Bar. Basic and also haven’t bought any in quite some time, but they’ve always been a staple for me. Never let me down.

Finger food type stuff

  1. Trail mix. Always and forever. Peanuts, almonds, cashews, raisins and chocolate.

  2. Trail mix; Salty Boi edition. I get this in bulk from my local grocery store. Peanuts, almonds, rice sticks and rice crackers.

  3. Natures Bakery Blueberry Fig Bars. Sometimes I go for bulk apple cinnamon bars.

  4. From The Ground Up Cauliflower Pretzels. Prefer these over regular pretzels.

  5. Noble Vegan Jerky. There’s a lot of good plant based jerkys out there, but I had this teriyaki flavor recently and it did not disappoint.

  6. Barnana Chewy Banana Bites. Any and all versions. So dang good.

  7. Justin’s Honey Peanut Butter. Not a finger food, but it often gets slathered on bread, apples, granola bars, etc.

Anddd that’s about it for the time being. There’s also snacks that don’t often get replaced like white corn tortilla chips, guacamole and salsa, blueberries/blackberries and spinach smoothies. The best way to eat these snacks is with music, so here’s some songs I’ve been cycling through this winter.

Some songs I’ve been cycling through this winter

In addition to these individual songs, I’ve been swooning over the Living In Symbol album by Astronauts, etc. It’s rare I enjoy an album in it’s entirety, but this one is just too good. I think the only other album I can listen to all the way through is Cotton Jones’ Paranoid Cocoon.

Anyway, enjoy.
